Zinke Statement on President Trump Stepping in to Pay America’s Servicemembers
October 15, 2025
Washington, D.C. – Western Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke released the following statement after President Trump acted to ensure U.S. servicemembers are paid despite Democrat obstruction that shut down the government and jeopardized military families’ livelihoods:
“As a former SEAL Commander, I can tell you, you don’t mess with a junior enlisted’s pay or a military family’s livelihood. Our troops put everything on the line for this country, and the least our government can do is make sure they get paid on time,” said Zinke. “House Republicans voted weeks ago to keep the government open and fund our military. Senate Democrats blocked it for political leverage, forcing President Trump to step in and do the job they refused to do. The men and women who wear the uniform should never be used as pawns in Washington’s political games. It’s time for Senate Democrats to put America first, end the obstruction, and join us in funding the government responsibly.”
