LTE: Zinke is committed to health care providers, veterans
Rep. Ryan Zinke has been in constant communication with Missoula Emergency Services since the Department of Veterans Affairs rule “Changes in Rates VA Pays for Special Modes of Transportation” came out in February 2023.
As manager of Missoula Emergency Services and president of the Montana Ambulance Association, I can tell you that ambulance services across Montana are struggling with below-cost reimbursements, some even had to close their doors last year. The decision made by the VA would no doubt have had negative impact on all ambulance providers in Montana. Veterans in Montana need access to ambulance transport (both air and ground) to meet their critical health care needs.
I was so thrilled when I was informed by the Congressman last week that he was able to include text defunding the proposed rule in this year’s Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill. This may not be front page headlines, but it will continue ambulance coverage for Montana Veterans when they need it most.
Thank you, Congressman Zinke, for your constant pressure on this issue and your commitment to Montana health care providers and veterans.
