Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke Appointed to House Appropriations Committee

January 13, 2023

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Today Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke was appointed to the influential House Committee on Appropriations, the committee has authorization over funding – and defunding – the federal government. The committee is vital to the House upholding its constitutional power of the purse and ensuring the spending by agencies follows the will of the People, rather than the discretion of unelected bureaucrats. Positions on the committee are highly competitive and members typically are appointed after two or three terms in the House. Zinke brings with him seniority from his previous tenure in the House and his expertise as a former U.S. Secretary of the Interior.

“It is an honor to work alongside Chairwoman Granger and the rest of the Appropriations Committee to implement serious and necessary change in spending and federal bureaucracy. Two long years of Democrat rule has created a mountain of work that must be addressed immediately. On top of that list is defunding the worst of the worst, funding mission-critical government functions, and reining in excessive spending,” said Congressman Zinke. “A Republican-led appropriations committee is where excessive spending stops. Our wagons are circled and we’re on solid ground to defend Montana against the administration’s blatant overreach through harmful policies like Waters of the United States and unconstitutional gun grabs. My voice on this committee will be loud, clear, unwavering and will represent Montana’s values. Our constituents, especially the hard-working farmers, ranchers, foresters and landowners can look forward to continuing to feed fuel, clothe and shelter the rest of the world without infringement by the federal government.”
