Zinke Community Funding Requests Advance to House Floor

July 20, 2023

Requests include more than $30 million for Western Montana Community Projects

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee approved Congressman Ryan Zinke’s Transportation Housing and Urban Development (THUD) community funding requests to advance to a vote on the House Floor in September. Pending passage on the House Floor, the requests will be considered for inclusion in the joint funding package to be approved by the Senate, then signed by the President.

The bill includes six of Rep. Zinke’s Community Project Funding requests to bring more than $31.5 million in funding directly to Montana communities.

Below is the list of Rep. Zinke’s THUD Appropriations requests included in the bill.

Community Project Funding Requests:

  • $20,000,000 for the Blackfeet Nation Tribal Center Project
  • $1,000,000 for the Beaverhead County Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
  • $1,000,000 for the Ravalli County Ricketts Road Improvement Project.
  • $3,315,000 for the Kalispell Two Mile Drainage Improvement Project.
  • $5,000,000 for the Yellowstone National Park Bridge Consolidation Project.
  • $833,123 for the Relocation of Powell County’s New Central Maintenance Facility.

Community Project Funding does not increase federal spending, the funding is allocated from previously authorized grant accounts. Allowing elected Members of Congress to direct grant funding brings accountability and transparency to a process that would otherwise be decided by unelected officials in the federal government.
