Zinke Votes to Support Israel Against Terrorism
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -Yesterday, Western Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke voted for H. Res. 771 - Standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists. “The attack against our ally follows a pattern of weakness by President Biden and a radical and dangerous shift by the Democrat party,” Zinke said. “While Democrat’s continue calling for a ceasefire and lead pro-Hamas protests in Capitol buildings, House Republicans will support Israel as they stand toe-to-toe with the same evil that has taken the lives of thousands of innocent people, including Americans. I’ve looked this evil in the eye and spent a great part of my life fighting it. Standing on the wrong side of history on this is un-American.” Background: The resolution begins with a number of clauses describing Hamas’ unprovoked war on Israel by air, land and sea including launching thousands of rockets on October 7, 2023. It states this heinous assault took place just after the 50th anniversary of the multi-front 1973 Yom Kippur War against Israel. It also notes that Hamas terrorists slaughtered Israelis including children and the elderly and abducted hostages in southern Israel. It describes how Hamas has launched over 4500 rockets into Israel since October 7 and has killed over 900 Israelis and injured more than 2600 others, as well as 11 American citizens. It then notes how Hamas is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians and how Iran has provided support for Hamas which is a Foreign Terrorist Organization. It also notes that under the 2016 U.S.-Israel MOU, the U.S. has pledged to provide Israel $3.3 billion a year in foreign military financing which was authorized in law by Sec 1273 of the FY2021 NDAA. It also notes that Israel is a major non-NATO ally and strategic partner of the U.S. |
